This nicely produced hardback book is pretty good value for it`s size and content. There are full-colour illustrations of what most would consider mainstream Gothic art subject matter; vampires, witches, demons, werewolves etc.
The images are large - some in double-page spreads - and the layout is good/5(23). Gothic Art. book great book is tells about the history of Romanesque and Gothic art across France, and focuses in particular on architecture and sculpture. It also includes a good review of ecclesiastical structures, paintings, manuscripts, and stained glass, while putting each landmark in its historical setting.
It's a bit dry in prose, but this is no surprise for an art history book. Nonetheless, it is an informative, and even an inspiring, read.
